Hickstead Royal International Horse Show 2019

Hickstead Royal International 2019, a week I will not be forgetting anytime soon!  The All England Jumping Course, Hickstead

All horses had a great start to the week; Morelands G-Vine was clear and placed in the 1m Morelands Celebration 6th in the 1.25m Willem was 13th in the Foxhunter & 14th in the Eventers Challenge
Clearly a Cooley was 6th in the Foxhunter
Dirk jumping very well in preparation for the Queen Elizabeth Cup, doing a lovely steady clear in the 1.30m

Wow I still can’t quite believe that Dirk and I jumped in the Queen Elizabeth Cup for just 4 faults to finish 10th❗This horse amazes me more and more each time I go in the ring with him, showing off how much talent and scope (doing an easy 4 strides down a 5 striding distance wasn’t my plan 😂) he has and not even losing a shoe 2/3rds of the way round slowed him down!!

I will be kicking myself for the rail as he didn’t deserve it but it has just made me more driven to get back in the ring with him to do better next time👍

Yet again I can’t thank the whole Bunn family enough for their support and for running the best show around! And to my support team on the yard, family, trainers & friends I couldn’t do it without any of you 💙❤️

I would also like to mention what a fantastic event the #10fortim was and amazing the amount of money that was raised!! Safe to say I’m not designed for fast distance running and won’t be making a career change 🏃🏻‍♀️

Chatsworth and Aston Le Walls Report

May 2019

What a week ‼️

Clarke did his best ever performance in the Advanced at Dodson & Horrell Chatsworth International Horse Trials scoring 31.4 (7th after Dressage) followed by an amazing Double Clear 🌟 We got held on the course briefly and the ground was wet so I didn’t run fast but we still managed to finish 12th 🏵 🤩

G was in the Novice at Aston Le Walls Equestrian Centre and if we hadn’t been HC he would have won with a 28.3 Double Clear 🌟 Earlier in the week Bubbles was also there for his first Intermediate where he was Double Clear 🌟

Couldn’t be prouder of all 3 of my gorgeous boys performing their best for me 😍

None of it would be possible without my amazing team supporting me, and thank you as always to my incredible sponsors !

Withington Report

April 2019

Busy weekend with lots of miles on the lorry 🚛
Clarke was incredible going double clear in the Advanced at Withington Manor Horse Trials to finish 9th out of the U25s 🌟 We have some promising work in the dressage phase with lots of room to progress but he made light work of tough XC.

G did an amazing test thanks to Holly Woodhead Eventing help the night before! Sadly he hit himself in the show jumping so I had to pull up, but he’s absolute fine now thankfully!

Quick turn around to go down to Chilham Park with Finn for another Double Clear in the BE100. He’s clearly enjoying this Eventing business, even putting some of his own moves into the dressage!

Musketeer Events, Burnham Market

April 2019

My first time at Musketeer Events Burnham Market, and it didn’t disappoint.

Some very spooky logos inside the arena meant for a disappointing mark for Clarke’s dressage, such a shame after he warmed up so beautifully. However, he went onto jump a foot perfect Double Clear just adding a few time as we knew we weren’t going to be competitive.

The beautiful G did a very good first attempt at Intermediate with a steady Double Clear, lots to look forward to with this little one’s future.

Clearly a Cooley DC & Morelands Celebration 6th

Over the moon with both boys performances at Belton. With cross county being in eye sight it made for a slightly inconsistent Dressage test for Bubbles so not quite the mark I was hoping for!

Clarke has made good improvements thanks to some great training. I was slightly disappointed in myself for some of my riding in the cross country where in which I let a spook at the banner next to fence 3 throw me a bit. Nevertheless, he felt incredible and flew round.

Oliva Nova, Mediterranean Equestrian Tour

18-10-18 to 14-11-18

What an amazing 3 weeks I had showjumping in Oliva Nova! This was my first trip driving abroad and we certainly made the most of the 3 day travel time with 4 lorries, 20 horses and 8 people! Whilst out there I was working with Pippa Funnell where I was grooming and warming up her horses. As well as getting the chance to watch other members of the Billy Stud with their young horses where they had some great results.

I took one of my own horses, Dirk, who was pretty spritely and rather fresh on the first week which cost us a couple of annoying poles. However, as he grew more accustomed to the arena we progressed and he felt great! I really enjoyed being back in the ring and by the end of week three I felt I had regained my confidence.

That said, it wasn’t all showjumping, we rode on the beach and in the sea which I absolutely loved. It was a tiring trip but fantastic experience and they were such a lovely bunch of people to work with from the Billy Stud. We are happy to be home now and looking forward to the next outing.

The All England Jumping Championships, Hickstead

The Royal International Horse Show

As you may have noticed recently I have been trying my hand at a bit of showjumping more than usual, so it was no surprise that when I got the invite to ride in Hickstead's MS Amlin Eventers' Challenge I was over the moon. This is one of my absolute favourite places to ride and so to have the chance to go in the main arena cross-country-style was epic. I was absolutely terrified going in, that arena is HUGE, but Willem was a star. Although he was a little strong going round (I like to think of it as over excited...) he did me proud and we got round in one piece with no embarrassing moments.

All horses jumped fantastically all week in the back arenas, getting plenty of practice in for our next eventing outing.

Well what a consistent weekend I’ve had!!
ChitChat was very good jumping a really lovely and confident double clear, she struggled a little bit in the heat for the dressage but really pleased with her over all performance after not having run for a while.
Bubbles seemed to be struggling on the ground in both the warm up and the arena and managed to trip over a good 4 or 5 times in his test so didn’t get to show off some of the great work we were getting in our lesson with Pip on Friday, but he jumped another great double clear!
Clarke showed massive improvements on the flat scoring a better mark with just one big mistake in his test, so pleased with him and grateful to Pip for her amazing help! He sadly just had 1 fence down but still jumped super and breezed round the XC finishing full of running!
And they ALL finished 9th !!!

This Friday we headed to Aston for Moorelands Celebration's (Clarke) first ever advanced and I could not be prouder of how he went. He did a super test, hitting a PB of 33.6 and gave me two amazing double clears. We had a few time penalties in the cross country, but on this ground, and for his first time stepping up a level I just wanted to make sure we got round nicely, so we could finish with loads of confidence looking towards our next event together. It's a very special feeling being able to take a home bred up through the levels, made all the better when you're on such a superstar - I can't wait to see what the future has for this guy.

Pyecombe jumping with Willem, Clarke and Dirk all feeling super!

Getting back to it

So on Saturday I got myself back out Eventing. As my first event back since Bramham I found it all very emotional, but thanks to my amazingly supportive team being there for me and the favourite boy Clarke doing a foot perfect double clear, I managed to do it.
I am so very lucky to have so much support and such lovely horses getting me back into the swing of things and reminding why I love this sport so much.

World Class Training

Such a fab day at Aston for World Class training. As you all know it has been really hard for me getting back into riding after the trauma of losing Ed, but I’ve had amazing people around me helping me through it all. I managed my first cross country session since Bramham and Bubbles was absolutely amazing - I managed to really enjoy myself! I’m so very grateful for all the support from my family, friends, staff, the World Class team and all the people that are involved with me and my horses!

It's Hickstead Time!

Such a fab 2 days jumping at Hickstead getting some showjumping practice in.
Willem jumped two lovely clears in the Fox Hunter, with Clarke fast in heels giving me a third clear. Bubbles just had one unlucky pole down in the Newcomers but felt fantastic!

Borde Hill Horse Trials

It was a very quick pit stop at hime before turning everything around and headed to Borde Hill with Bubbles He did a lovely test and double clear but steady on the hard ground which lost us 2nd place in the Open Novice.

Musketeer Events, Burnham Market

My first time at Musketeer Events Burnham Market, and it didn’t disappoint.

I was gutted for Clarke’s Dr as Myself and Tracie felt he warmed up the best ever but then sadly he was spooked by some logos that were kindly placed inside the Dr boards so ruined a fair few movements for us, but he jumped a foot perfect Double Clear for me just adding a few time as we weren’t going to be competitive.

The beautiful G did a very good first attempt at Int with a steady Double Clear, lots to look forward to with this little ones future.
